Easter eggs for Christmas!

I know, it sounds funny, but it is true! As usual I made some decorative eggs before Easter and people are buying them through year up to the Christmas. In November the last two were gone so I decided to make few more. Here they are!

I am very pleased that people often comment on the smooth glossy finish of the eggs. I am going to show you the very simple way of getting it. All you need is a piece of wooden plank and a long screw going through it. Now you can dip an egg in the varnish and let it drip. Glossy finish garanteed!

I have just finished decorating this tray with very Christmassy pictures and festive colours.

Magazine Files

I like to make functional things, something practical, that can be used every day. Something like these magazine files here - they are solid plywood,
painted inside and out and decorated in a rather neutral way.

Piece of cake!

There was no crafting today because I was baking. Every Wednesday a lovely lady - my neighbour - bakes cakes for a weekly gathering at local church. This week she was not that well so I did it. Five apple pies to feed 40 people - piece of cake! Actually there were six - one for myself. I definitely need a treat!

Rag Angel and Poinsettia

It took me long time to finish with image of rag angel. It is a lovely picture but I was not sure what kind of finish to use. These tiny specks are just fine, what do you think?

I am not very keen on the poinsettia as a plant but flowers are spectacular! And I like these small buckets, they are so versatile, you can use them in many ways!

Late Flowers of my Garden

It is very mild and quiet today so I went out to collect fallen leaves in my garden and came across some late flowers. Cyclamen, fuschia, rudbeckia and a few annuals are rather common but these shy beauties of periwinkle, Welsh poppy and astrantia are a bit unusual for this time of year. I hope these pictures will cheer you up! We all need something nice to look at in November...

Three Hairbrushes for little girls

These small hairbrushes would be a nice gift for little girls or a great Christmas stocking filler!

Mushrooms and mushrooms again!

Yes, I know, for many Western people picking (and eating) wild mushrooms is an entirely allien notion! But my husband is crazy about mushrooming and I myself enjoy it very much. The beauty of the autumn forest and these lovely chaps peeking out of the grass - no, I can't resist! We call it "quiet hunting " and I think it is a very appropriate name. You can eat mushrooms fried, salted, pickled and dried - they make delicious soup and sauces. We dried some not only for ourselves but for friends as well and I decorated a storage box  as a small gift.
